The biggest number of the Ugandan population lives in urban areas and more people are still moving into these urban centers. This means more air pollution and the urban heat phenomenon. The heat and air pollution is generated by people, transport, shops and industry is trapped in the narrow roads and concrete structures, unable to escape to the atmosphere. This leads to increase in temperatures both day and night and these get worse during the dry season. We as an initiative, go around advocating and engaging city councils, local councils to create green areas and parks and adding vegetation to rooftops to reduce the urban heat island effect and also combat air pollution.
