The Network Girl Tech Initiative
We are a registered community based women-led and operated organisation that champions the empowerment of girls and women across Uganda. We believe in creating opportunities for girls to thrive by equipping them with technological skills, sexual rights and health rights promotion, climate change adaptation and mitigation training, advocating for their rights, civic engagement and addressing the challenges they face, such as gender-based violence, early marriages, period poverty and lack of access to education
We are dedicated to empowering rural women and girls with technological skills, promoting digital inclusion, and driving sustainable development. Our mission aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 13, which calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, and Goal 5b, which focuses on harnessing technologies to promote gender equality. TNGTIU aims to bridge the digital divide by providing accessible ICT training, mentorship, and economic empowerment opportunities for all women and girls , enhancing their participation in the digital economy and improving their overall well-being.

The Inception
The Network Girl Tech Initiative Uganda (TNGTIU) was founded by Eng. Andrew Ssemere and Mrs. Nantambi Vivian Ssemere in 2019 as the CSR department of The Network Company Uganda. It went ahead to become an independent organisation in 2020. Since its inception TNGTIU has impacted lives of more than 5000 women and girls ,their families and sorrounding communities. Currently we are poised to be a robust and more agile organisation through our mode of work with intristic quality and increased resilience through sustainable perfomance. Our ongoing contributions mentioned above are almost all the cores which our work is built on.

Core team at The Network Girl Initiative Uganda

Vivian Nantambi
Executive Director
“We are the climate, every single one of us has a part to play, we must come together using what we have to confront climate change. If we do nothing, we will face climate catastrophes that will fuel more gender inequality than ever witnessed on earth. Climate change is a matter of life or death, it is something we cannot buy ourselves out of so we are acting now by creating an army of girls who are climate soldiers.”

Noutaila Saeed
Director Accounts HR & Admin
"We are faced with climate challenges every single day, empowering girls with climate education and technology will ensure that the girls have the skills and knowledge to respond to climate related disasters and grow up to be women who participate fully in society and take on leadership roles that will effect positive climate change.”

Rinah Nalufunjo
Program Manager
“A girl child empowered with technology is the best tool to curb the climate change and create a more environmentally-friendly agenda. Technology makes the process more efficient, transparent and effective.”

Saufa Chemutai
Communications & Advocacy Manager
“When you empower a girl child on climate change you build a strong nation for tomorrow. Empowering them equips them with knowledge they take back to their communities and use to become climate soldiers and agents of climate change”

Mutesi Aisha
Program Training Manager
"Equipping girls with climate and technology literacy helps them think critically about life, be creative thinkers and be confident enough to have a climate voice that brings up solutions to the climate change affecting them and push policy makers to implement these solutions."
